PROBLEM
New entrepreneurs are not able to smoothly navigate Italian bureaucracy
Starting a business in Italy means navigating multiple disconnected systems, offices, and regulations. For first-time entrepreneurs, the process feels unclear, time-consuming, and stressful, with little guidance or consistency across institutions.

Lack of clear communication
Entrepreneurs described the system as chaotic and contradictory. Different offices can give different answers.
Users desire to focus on their business
Entrepreneurs said they either had to decipher paperwork alone or pay large fees for help, draining both time and resources.
Using AI requires transparency
Users were wary of AI inside public services, they wanted to know what AI is doing, why it’s needed, and how data is used.
SOLUTION
Simplifying complex processes while maintaining legal accuracy
Rather than simplifying the content itself, the design simplifies how information is accessed and understood. Legal requirements are broken into structured, sequential steps that guide users through decisions without overwhelming them or compromising accuracy.
OUTCOME
A guided system that turns bureaucracy into a clear, navigable process
Clearer Orientation & Next Steps
With the new dashboard, 4 out of 5 users immediately understood what to do next, compared to 1 out of 5 in earlier testing. Users described the flow as clearer and less overwhelming.
Increased Trust
All 5 users described the interface as more trustworthy and appropriate.
Guided Experience
Users reported that the system made the process feel structured and manageable.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
Dual-facing system
Designing a dedicated workspace for PA officers would create operational alignment and reduce back-and-forth.
Developed visuals
The project prioritizes interaction clarity over visual expression. A next step would be to refine visuals for depth and cohesion.
